In 2012 Opus Stewart Weir celebrated 100 years of operation
Land surveying pioneer AG Stewart started the company. In 1951 he was joined by CH Weir, an engineer and land surveyor, and together they helped to ‘tame the West’ and laid the foundations of the 500-strong team we are today.
Their dedication, innovation, and landmark achievements in Alberta provided us with a business model focused on achieving total satisfaction for our clients, through integrated services that can rise to the challenge of any engineering or infrastructure project.
Today, the drive is still there, along with our unwavering commitment to our clients. We are just bigger, and better, and involved in some seriously exciting projects.
Opus Stewart Weir
In 2013 our predecessor Stewart Weir Co. Ltd was purchased by Opus International Consultants (Opus). The acquisition, including all legal entities, added some 550 staff and six offices in Canada, bringing the Opus Canadian team to around 700 staff in 16 offices, and the Opus global team to more than 3,000 staff and 91 offices worldwide.
Opus is an international multidisciplinary engineering, architecture and infrastructure consultancy with a network of offices in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Opus established in Canada in 2002 and in 2010 completed the purchase of Dayton and Knight (now Opus DaytonKnight), a water, wastewater and environmental engineering consultancy based in British Columbia.
